"Lifeline", the Struggle to Come Back

Posted by

Whenever Julie Pelaez brings in new artwork it is always a delight. Her pieces have such grace and fluidity, they have an almost mesmeric effect. That is why hearing the story behind her most recent painting "Lifeline" was such a sorrowful shock.

On April 21st, Julie's brother-in-law Steve, an avid cyclist experienced a direct impact from a vehicle taking an unexpected turn on the road.  Steve was found unresponsive at the scene and has been in a coma ever since.

Needless to say, his family is absolutely distraught throughout this entire process, and their struggles are nowhere near an end.

Steve has suffered significant trauma to his brain. He also fractured his neck, back, several ribs and right shoulder, punctured both lungs, and lacerated his liver.

Now Julie's inspiration for this piece becomes heartbreakingly clear, as Steve struggles to come back to the waking world and reunite with his loved ones.

Julie will be donating all of her proceeds from prints made of "Lifeline" to Steve's medical bills, so we encourage you to show your support. She hopes that seeing it will serve as a daily reminder to everyone of how fragile life is.  If you don't have the space for one of these lovely prints, but would still like to donate, please visit Steve's GoFundMe site direct, as well as see updates from family on his progress.  His family is doing all they can to cope and stay positive during this emotional time.
