HELP STEVE PELAEZ & HIS FAMILY
HALF OF ALL SALES GO DIRECTLY TO THE ARTIST'S BROTHER-IN-LAW IN NEED OF HELP!
A special note from the artist herself:
On April 21st, 2017, my brother-in-law and avid cyclist, Steve Pelaez, was riding down a steep hill in Marin, CA when a car suddenly turned in front of him and struck him head on. It was a devastating accident, and for the first 48 hours, we were not sure if he would survive. Despite wearing a helmet, his injuries included severe brain bleeding and swelling, a lacerated liver, 2 punctured lungs and many broken bones, among others. After receiving blood transfusions, resuscitation and excellent care from both the Marin General and Stanford Hospital medical teams, he remains in a coma, but stabilized and expected to LIVE. We have been told it will be a long 6-12 month road, from surgeries to "Awakening" from the coma to physical therapy, but his wife and 2 kids await by his side, thankful to have him alive.
As many artists do, I was compelled to process my own emotions of this incident through art, creating beauty from tragedy. "Lifeline" is a tribute to Steve and his journey. The thin line represents the line between life and death - a place he has traveled to firsthand. It's as if he has dived down deep, touched the line and is on his way back, resurfacing to us.
All my profits from print sales of "Lifeline" will be donated to his wife and kids to help with the medical, travel and related expenses as part of their new reality. Should you purchase a print, let it be a reminder of how fragile our lives are every time you look at it. Alternatively, direct donations can be given at: https://www.gofundme.com.steve-pelaez-medical-fund
Thank you for your healing thoughts as we continue to pull for Steve's recovery every day.
