NJ Weaver was raised & educated in Austin and Houston. She spent 10+ years working in the architectural/interior design field in Houston before moving to New Mexico in the early 90’s. While in Albuquerque, she worked with Habitat for Humanity and other local area non-profit organizations in project management & fundraising. A lifelong art observer, New Mexico’s landscapes, arts and native crafts further sparked her interest and studies in painting, photography, and fiber arts.
In 2004, she returned to Austin and began exploring new mediums & art interests. Shortly thereafter, NJ began working with encaustic medium (beeswax & damar resin) and continues today to combine and create intuitive abstract art rich in color, texture and light using paint, encaustic, photography, everyday objects and ephemera.
NJ Weaver is a member of the International Encaustic Artists/Texas Wax Austin and Women Printmakers of Austin. Her paintings have been shown in regional and in national juried shows. NJ’s studio is at Artpost Austin.
